Industrial Specialties: Water Treatment

Dispersing agents and anti-scaling agents for boilers and cooling circuits

Water Treatment specialists face precipitation or scale formation that vary greatly from one location to the other. Water coming from surface, well pipe or public lines will contain a wide variety of minerals that have to be dealt with. In addition, local laws set limits on wastewater that can influence the type of treatment used.

To assist the Water Treatment Specialist, we have created a wide variety of polymers used as dispersing or anti-scaling agents. Most of them can be classified either in one category or the other. Some of them are used in both.

The main families, based on one or more monomers (homopolymers, copolymers, terpolymers,…) are:

Low molecular weight polymers used as anti-scaling additives for high temperature conditions such as water desalination, sugar production, high skin temperature heat exchangers and in some case, boilers.

Medium molecular weight polymers for medium to high temperature conditions like cooling circuits where anti-scaling and dispersion properties are required. They are also used in boilers as dispersing agents for sludge and in Reverse Osmosis.

High molecular weight polymers for cases where only dispersion is required whether it be for alkaline earth carbonates, calcium phosphate or phosphonate, iron oxides or hydroxides and any mineral that can find its way into the cooling stream.

Specialty polymers have also been created to solve very specific problems.

Whether your Water Treatment problem is well known or exotic, Coatex has a polymer that provides the desired balance.
