How does it work?

ASE rheology modifiers act on the viscosity of formulations by means of a strong water gelling effect achieved by the entanglement of neutralized carboxylic acid groups chains.

They are supplied at low pH and the acid groups on the polymer chains need to be neutralized to allow the polymer to solubilize.
